The Crystal Noir
Matte black crepe gown with graduated crystal scatter
Against the deep matte of the black crepe, the hand-placed crystals of the Crystal Noir behave like scattered stars. Not distributed evenly — but weighted toward the neckline and hem, thinning at the waist, creating a gradient of light that draws the eye upward and then down again.
This is a gown engineered for evening. In daylight it reads as a refined black gown. In the dark, under a point of light, it becomes something else entirely.
- Matte heavy crepe (black)
- Hand-placed Swarovski crystals (graduated pattern)
- Silk charmeuse lining
- Structured neckline facing
- Concealed back zip
The Pattern
The crystal distribution was designed by hand on a dress form before a single crystal was sewn. The gradient from dense neckline to sparse waist to dense hem was mapped on paper and transferred to the fabric with chalk marks.
The Setting
Each crystal is set individually through the crepe and lining simultaneously, creating a secure mount that does not distort the fabric surface. This requires the lining to be basted in place before embellishment begins.
The Balance
The graduated crystal pattern is asymmetric by design — heavier on the left shoulder than the right, mirroring the way a woman naturally turns her head. Small choices. Significant results.
- Dry clean only
- Lay flat for storage in acid-free tissue
- The matte crepe should not be steamed — it permanently alters the surface finish
